I bought an Autel code reader a while ago. I occasionally get the MIL light on and it tells me what the problem is and allows resets. So far the fault has been "random intermittent misfire" or, once, " evap system".
My Autel is a non current model and not able to have software updates but covers most makes up to about 4 years ago so the Plus8 is in safe hands, using Rover or Landrover as selected make from the menu.
I tend to carry it in the car on weekend/ long runs for peace of mind checks if needed. It is simple to use.
It also has many modes/ stores/ outputs as well as simple diagnostic/reset ability.
It paid for itself on its first use.....about £40 on ebay.
Last time used it took only 2-3 mins to check and reset the "misfire fault" and was done at a coffee stop on a run.
