....and what about "It is the duty of the wealthy man to give employment to the artisan"....
Most of the wealthy folk I know are mini economic centres - employing staff, gardeners, carpenters etc etc. I'm not sure they'd see it as their duty as their tax contribution is far greater than most (so they're fulfilling their duty in that respect) - but as it happens, they do spend huge amounts within their local economy.
