More than likely Morgan had more than one possible primer. You don't make extra work by priming in a dark colour, and then painting the car white.
Very few two and three speeders are painted authentically, as they all should brushed - not sprayed. Most are far too good and never left the factory that good looking.
One of these days I'll re-paint my car as attempt one at brushing a car was a bit flawed.
