I have been very pleased with our Toyota auris hybrid. Bought in 2012 at one year old, I have now done over 50 k miles in it and returns 50 mpg, bit noisy when pushed but will cruise all day at 75/80 mph.
The newer version will do 50mph on hybrid power alone and returns nearly 70mpg allegedly. I've been looking to part ex but swmbo says as the present one works so well why bother? Can't really argue with that?
Dont see the point. We have a Merc C200 and that has averaged over 48 mpg on 69k miles. And its a normal car. So why bother with a hybrid if you dont save much?
Me neither at the moment.
We were given the Auris as a hire car recently, and I thought lovely, this will be cheap.
In fact it was about as economical as a diesel C5 we had before (yes I know its dirtier), and when the engine came to life on the hills/motorways, it revved its nuts off, and clearly wasn't comfortable as an all rounder. Ok just for towns probably.
