On tires:
Slipped 225/40 and 245/40 Michelin Super Sports on my 2005 Aero 8 Series II; car's handling, ride, and NHV has been transformed!
If you're in the market for new tires I highly recommend them. I have Continental ExtremeContact DW's on my E90 M3, and the Michelins outshine them in every regard (save wet weather operation).
Prior to the SS's I had an older pair ('08) PZeros with perhaps 7k miles on them. They PZeros were had plenty of tread, but we're getting a bit "hard".
And on carpets:
Looking for some advice on freshening up the interior. My 2005 is blue over silver, no complaints about the wonderful stock exterior color. The hides in the interior are of high quality, but there's simply too much navy blue!
I'd like to replace the existing carpeting, leather rocker panels, and leather back-half of the transmission tunnel with some carpeting that resembles what Malvern is using these days. It appears the Factory is using a german square weave, but it is difficult to tell from the official pictures. Can anyone give me a better picture or provide insight on the actual material? I like the non-uniformity of the coloration (most pronounced in the tan/biscuit color) and would like to do something similar with a lighter blue and dark blue piping.
I'd like to stay true to OEM, but actually getting OEM in States is another matter.
Any suggestions on a color combo that would suit the original dark blue roof, seats, and other bits is more than welcomed. I think the right tan could work, but this is my first foray into spec'ing a non-factory interior.
Best,
M
