If it cracks in Paintwork it is a possibility the finish has filler behind it, Manufactures can use small amounts of filler in nasty little areas where Files can't reach.

Sand down area plus some, refill with a soft "Top Filler" , REPAINT but add Plastersizer to the paint, this will allow the Paint to stay slightly flexible and possibly prevent future cracking.
