Generally, the Ford 4 cylinders do run a little bit hot in the 4/4 because of the long 'run' between the rad and the block, but well worth keeping an eye on it and considering the obvious probs: do you have a airlock, are you losing coolant. is the cooling fan cutting in soon enough?
Other factors which can affect the temp are apparently silly things such as do you have a badge bar or a number plate mounting which is obstructing air flow
If you have only recently acquired the car, have you flushed the rad and system
