You think there is some minor risk that my high deposit payment does not guarantee that I get the car delivered?
When I was looking for a mog there was a nice Plus 4 advertised in Switzerland at a very reasonable price. When I emailed the owner I received a reply telling me the car is actually in Spain and the owner will happily deliver to Austria. We do this all the time, he said. Of course a transfer of some money would ensure the delivery
It looked like a scam and it was a scam and no money left my account. A friend had a similar experience trying to buy a 2CV advertised at a "very reasonable" price in Germany. He actually transferred a holding deposit but was cautious enough to use a system that allowed him to recover the money as the person who came to collect it could not provide identity. It's a minefield out there!
