My car is May 2013 but with most of the post 2014 upgrades, including the urban cooling kit and its associated ECU remap. Even if you don't drive in urban conditions the cooling fan kit and its remap are certainly worth the money. It helps to stabilise the engine temperature and keep the peaks down, heat kills air cooled engines, as I am sure you are aware. Anything that prevents excessive temperatures will help the life of the engine. The remap that comes with the cooling kit is an improvement over the original that you probably have with a 2012 car. The G56 Stage 1 kit doesn't require any rolling road remaps for the ECU, it is designed to work with the standard map and does.
The pinking over 4000 rpm is almost certainly a result of using the very restrictive standard exhaust system rather than the ECU map,as R1NGA says. The easy thing to do is get the cooling kit with its ECU remap plus a better exhaust and air filter. Its tried, tested and works.
