Hello all, we are having a trip to Ireland very soon and was wondering if there was anything especially interesting to see/do? Car shows, museums, to do with automobiles are an interest. I have been told we will see enough old churches/castles so just looking for something a bit different. Suggestions of places to stay and eat welcome as well. I would have liked to get across to visit the Morgan factory but I think time constraints won't allow at this time. We will be hiring a car and have three weeks ,so hopefully will get around most of the island. Never going to see every thing but I would imagine a lot of you have been and done Ireland. Ireland is a little bit like NZ in that its was a mainly agricultural country so no car factories or museums showing numbers of Irish built cars. No doubt there were a few in the early days when car building was a cottage industry, but the only recent one I can think of was the DeLorian when the British government anxious to support NI in the terrorist era got taken to the cleaners by a Yank "entrepreneur" .
If you go to Belfast there is the shipyard that built the Titanic and museums to go with that.The modern Irish economy is very much office / industrial unit based so not for sightseeing..
But mainly touring Ireland is about scenery and Guiness and Irish culture - and rain.
