Is this a 4 seater?
In '91 the tools would be in the "tool box" under the driver's side bonnet, above your knees.
Assuming a 2 seater, the battery will be passenger side under the parcel shelf in front of the rear axle (don't think CVH were different to earlier X-flow or later Zetec).
The "tool tray" under the parcel shelf came in much later - assuming a non-modified car of course...
