Thats correct, they are rose jointed and it is the rose joint that is worn - I believe it wears out the aluminium and thus the whole arm has to be replaced.
If better than original ones can be sourced, even better!

The original equipment rod ends on the S1 are of superb quality, as are the aerospace grade nuts and bolts used throughout. Sadly the original manufacturer of the rod ends, Goldline, has long since gone out of business. NMB are a good and similar quality replacement.
Do not be tempted by cheap rod ends on suspension components
