Yes, almost like you have to leave it in neutral wiggle it a bit before going into first, seems worse coming down from 2nd.
Clunky - yes definitely CLUNKY it's no MX5 box that's for sure.

here. Quite a lot of chat on various forums. Don't think even its mother would call it fast or slick, but they seems to be robust enough.
Of course, much cheaper then the Getrax box on the Mk 1 Roadster....
