On my 2002 Plus8 the sensor is near the thermostat housing. The thermostat has two small bypass holes in it to allow a small flow through when the stat is closed. When I flushed the system at the last coolant change I forgot to check the stat in a saucepan so can't tell you what it opened at!
The fan switch is in the top tank screwed into a boss. The heat soak leads to a rise in temp there when on stop hence the fan kicking in on hot days in slow traffic etc..
As an aside.... Has anyone filled with Evans waterless? What effect, if any, on the running temp? I know someone who had a new rad and Evans at same time so no feedback on it's cooling efficiency.
