Apologies if this subject has appeared elsewhere (sure it has) - but I can't find a solution to the problem. 1987 Morgan 4/4 (147000 miles) rear springs replaced with 6 leaf springs about 8 years ago (Mike Duncan); horrendous metal against metal noise from rear near side when hitting a recession in the road (but not a bump). Checked all the nuts/bolts and that the spring harnesses are free and lubricated. Not exhaust nor brake related (so far as I can tell). I guess the issue with a recession in the road is that the wheel/axle has to descend before being thrown upwards when coming out of it - so effectively having to travel twice the distance of hitting a 'normal' bump? No-one (neither Mike nor the local garage) can trace the source.
