Sorry, you must give in to temptation and whilst I doubt the car will need extensive renovation it will need a steady "drip feed" of care, time and of course, money!
It is well worth checking out DW's "How to" series of threads for ideas and assistance.
Another really good resource is Tm Ayres at New Elms Morgan, in north Dorset just off the A350 between Shaftsbury and the A303.
