I have hex fittings on my M3W and 2 eared spinners on my 4/4. It is much easier and safer to work with the hexagonal ones. But the eared spinners do look better.
How unsafe are the spinners?
for me there is a higher risk to damage the wheels with the hammer as you have to hit harder than using the hexagonal spanner
