With speed limits and modern motors with more power and efficiency than old ones, revs are lower at same speed with a 5 gearbox. Particularly on a Morgan with high gearbox ratios you are quite always under middle of max rev which is compliant with running.But with using always too low rev, the motor will not be free and cannot reach its maximum power.
