Have the ads worked?
If they catch attention and the company/product becomes known then I say yes.
Perhaps the image portrayed is seen as "dodgy" by some but, theses days dodgy is becoming acceptable. Over the years many ads have become long running stories,series etc. and of high production standard.
I worked for Gallaher Tobacco in cigars....remember the Manikin and Hamlet ads?
Manikin famous(infamous) for gorgeous girls gambolling in the surf.
Hamlet for the comedy.....gregor Fisher in the photobooth etc..
Somewhere in the attic I have a VHS of out-takes from the ads, obtained from the marketing people. Hilarious! None for the photobooth Hamlet, though. Gregor Fisher just walked onto set, did the ad in one take. Now....I need to find it for the wet t-shirt Manikin ads... innocent
