A friend of mine used to work for the Hydro Board in the Western Isles and he lost count of the Swans and Geese (they were never allowed to reveal that of course) that used to get across the power lines - they would have to clear the remnants off the lines prior to restoration of the service.

You can't win apparently the wind turbines are decimating the bat population now..
