I have been watching the series on Discovery Turbo channel...Super yachts. It shows the design and building of bespoke yachts. Ep6 details the build of a 65metre wooden hulled 3master.
Money no object? This series shows what can be done. The attention to detail, standard of build etc is phenominal.
The only sailing I have done is at school in Mirror dinghies made in the woodwork dept. Also a school bought Enterprise. We also did some canoeing in school built canoes made from a mould given to the school by Millfield School who we had close sporting contact with.
The highlight was our annual week long stay in Saundersfoot canoeing/sailing in the Saundersfoot/Tenby area plus white water fun on the river Teifi. Camping was in tents borrowed from the TA, our school sec was in the TA so got them. It was essentially part of the rugby squad pre season training, team building. Quite revolutionary back in those days.
Phil NZ.....that is a stunning boat you have there. You can't beat the look of a wooden construction.
