However, there seems to be something different about noise measurements...
A deep, low tone, V8 can sound loud and yet be well under the noise level at Prescott, higher frequencies (4-cyl m/c power for example) can sound a similar level yet are much closer to the noise level.
That is a very loose general statement, culled from years on the hill or parked in Hill Control.
Yes , some of the screeming 4cyl cars sound very harsh which is unpleasant , whereas a nice creamy v8 is a joy !
