On my car with damper blades I lever up the bronze plate and look for grease coming out from the gap. Only a small / 2-3mm gap). I was told this by Phil at Allon White when I bought my first Mog there.
I regreased last week but different grease on each side! I ran out of moly so did the second side with pale bearing grease. I grease at 800-1000 miles max.
Don't forget to spray chain lube on your rear leaf spring too. If dry they lose movement of leaves over each other causing a slightly harder ride and wear.
