I think you are missing the point. We all know that modern engines work on the lean-burn system. In this way the perforated inlet port matches the perforated exhaust port and practically no fuel is required. Because the compression stroke is going to expell power draining excessive compressed gasses through both the inlet and the exhaust the system is in perfect balance. In fact no catalytic converter is required because the fuel air mixture is so lean that only slightly smelly air exits the exhaust port. Also it can be noted that the engine is extremely quiet so a completely open, straight through exhaust pipe can be used. All one hears as the car progresses down the road, preferably down in the literal sense, is a quiet chuffing. In fact the owners of these remarkable pieces of engineering are quite chuffed.
Personally I think that this means the end of the expensive and environmentally unfriendly electric cars.
