I finally fitted the Stays. Not to Dave W standard but for me, a good enough improvement which can always be improved later.
The Hinge end is as supplied. Fitted easily as the nut stays in place when the screw is removed.
I did not want to trust the adhesive foam supplied so fabricated these little plates from a pre hole piece of stainless. I then Pop riveted the clip in place first. I almost caused some difficulty for myself when I realised that the nut on this screw was loose and I would not be able to replace it easily if I did not have the benefit of the Keyhole in my plate. Also a long reach 'T' screwdriver with magnetic end, made for me years ago by an uncle, allowed me to get a box spanner onto the nut end while fastening the inside screw. That was lucky.
The compromise - to obtain suckers without hole through - I found a cheap 'bow and arrow kit'. The sucker and plastic arrows were oversized for the rod and glued together so misshapen. I have had to increase the rod size using plastic tape and the also glue on the suckers.
The finished rod clipped in place.
The Stay in place with sucker easily attached and nice and secure.
