I'm not suggesting this as a replacement for driver observation.
However, regular updates (mine every 6 months) keep things pretty well up to date.
I'm suggesting that's the reason for Peter J's dash Satnav warnings, rather than a camera recognising a speed limit sign...


Graham, it is clearly both camera and GPS driven. there is a bit of the Salisbury ring road where the speed limit is 40, but the parallel service road is 20. At one point the 20 sign is on the barrier between the service road and the ring road and if i'm in the inside lane the camera picks it up, displaying 20 on the dash, but if i'm in the O/S lane it doesn't see the sign and I don't get the warning.

So I put a bit of tape over the camera and I don't get the 20 mph warning. Conclusion: the camera is the primary warning, the GPS confirms.
