Thanks for taking the trouble to read thus far - I am exceptionally pleased with my Roadster - it's unusual in my experience to finally acquire something you've wanted for a very long time and then NOT discover there are elements that may be slightly negative.
Of course, I suppose that's just the 'Just Married' thing, but hey, it's extremely good so far, haven't smiled as much for years.
Anyway, to the points:

1. Does anyone have any thoughts or advice on the retro-fitting of a starter button as opposed to the steering column key?

2. I've read various posts on fog / spot lights; I'm undecided (currently no spotlights) but my mental 'image' of a Morgan always included them. However, that was back in the days of having a front bumper and I'm not convinced as to how spots would attach without a bumper (fender) bracket. Any advice greatly valued.

Parp Parp . . .

Everything needed for the starter button conversion is already in the chassis loom apart from the button switch itself and short associated loom with plug to match that on loom behind dash. The larger Morgan spares dealers stock these. You will find a similar shorting plug which the button one will replace, removing the key start option. As you may have noticed the start system is designed for start/stop so you only need to touch button once to initiate auto sequence.

Not a fan of spotlights and have dedicated LED headlamps on my Roadster anyway. Again all the loom wiring is already present though. Look for redundant bullet connectors under each wing fed by blue/yellow cables. Again there is a redundant fog/spot light connector behind dash to match a similar one touch select button which should be available from spares dealer.

Ben, my advice is leave the ignition key vs start button alone - I've spent many hours trying to diagnose & cure a friends 3.7 that used to go a bit flaky on restart when switched off in long hot queues of traffic, he has a button start, mine is key only

Spotlights on non bumper cars were often fitted by just drilling the alloy wings, not ideal with all that vibration and leverage from the weight of the spot, I've seen starcracks in the paint on some

I fitted a start button to my 3.7l Roadster. Dead easy. BHM have them.

I too prefer the key start. With the button start the BCU is brought into play to handle the ground trigger from its momentary switch contacts, outputing a +12v trigger to match that from key start. One or the other feeds a shared line to PCM/ECU to initiate start sequence.

Ben, if you do decide to fit front fog lights, the dash wiring for switch to control same is essentially plug and play much like the starter button option. You will find behind the dash a redundant 4 pin socket to accept the fog light switch plug. This is pre-wired to the BCU to handle light inhibits and switch illumination when active (as with rear fog light switch) outputing power when selected to the blue/yellow wires under the offside front wing jumpered via double bullet female across to nearside to feed each auxiliary light.
