thanks for your input i suspect that you have to release the nuts on the stay then turn the stay to take up the slack? i will try that as soon as i can gain access to a hoist regards bruce
Better get some rust buster. I use 50:50 Acetone and ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid. Turn the rods with a pair of ViceGrips. If your careful and give the Rust Buster a bit of time I bet You can get it done.
But not on a hoist. You need to jack up under one end of crosshead and check that other end goes up the same distance. Check it out first and see if You really have a problem. You might not.
