I've now heard from Jaguar Classics and I asked him to let me have the details in an email. It seems that Jaguar have seen the potential for these re-engineered cars and prices have gone up substantially. I don't think that even a new kitchen will enable swmbo as head of the 'investment' committee' to authorise one of these:

"Global Headquarters

Following a phenomenal response to our other Reborn programmes, Jaguar Land Rover Classic has moved to a purpose-built new home, based near to the Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations Headquarters, in Ryton, Coventry, Warwickshire.

In addition to relocating our expert team of Jaguar technicians, we also have access to our archive of unique technical drawings and period blueprints.

Restoration Process

The Jaguar Classic Team have been scouring the world to find vehicles that are suitable for Reborn restoration.

We look for vehicles that retain their original engine blocks, and cylinder heads, where possible.

Each and every car undergoes an in-depth inspection, and we hand pick examples that are still highly original and previously unrestored, to ensure they remain highly authentic.

The car is then fully restored with original vehicle components being retained and restored, subject to them achieving the required structural integrity and desired finish.

We will offer a choice of thirty different period-correct colours for the body, along with the thirteen original trim options and six hood fabrics.

Each Reborn vehicle will undergo a full and complete restoration, including all mechanical components.

Body sections from our recently introduced E-type panel programme are used as and when necessary.

This process is highlighted in more detail on the attached restoration standards document.

Each finished Reborn vehicle comes with a 12-month factory warranty.

Sourcing Vehicles

We have already procured a selection of base vehicles that are residing in the UK awaiting the restoration process. We are planning to secure several more vehicles now that we have been able to ascertain our customers’ individual requirements.

The earliest flat floor vehicles are exceptionally hard to find and are only available sporadically. Once our initial supply of these have been sold, we cannot guarantee the availability of any additional vehicles.

We will of course endeavour to find and supply such a vehicle, but cannot guarantee a time frame, or price.

Global Purchases

We will happily supply a Jaguar E-Type Reborn to customers anywhere in the world, however please be aware the prices we quote for our vehicles are Ex works. This means the price only covers the cost of the fully restored vehicle collected from the factory in the UK. It is the responsibility of the new owner to cover the costs of the transportation and importation to their home country.

We can of course supply details of suitable companies who may be able to assist with the transportation procedure.

Pricing

Jaguar E Type Series One Only

Base cars

LHD 4.2 Fixed Head Coupe £285,000

LHD 4.2 Open Two Seater £305,000

LHD 3.8 Fixed Head Coupe £305,000

LHD 3.8 Open Two Seater £325,000

All of the LHD series one 3.8 and 4.2 models can be Reborn in the hand of drive to suit the new owner.

Original RHD vehicles are only sporadically available and will generally cost an additional £25,000.

The very earliest cars from 1961 to 1962 commonly referred to as a flat floor are exceptionally rare and due to their highly collectable nature, the recommendation is to retain their original configuration. As such these are priced individually starting from £375,000.

We would anticipate the first vehicles being available for customer delivery approximately 18 months from a signed contract and deposit receipt. This will be confirmed and updated as the programme develops.

We are able to secure a restoration slot with an initial holding deposit of £5,000.00. A contract will then be issued and the remainder of the 20% deposit would need to be paid upon signature.

I have attached the restoration standards document referenced above, along with some images of a Jaguar Reborn.

If you have any further questions or would like to proceed, please do let me know."

Should anyone be feeling flush I can pass on the email address...
