The original small screens are sealed. There is a channel below the slots above the instruments but I dont think that is sufficient to keep them dry & any ingress is on your knees.
I used masking tape to keep sealant off the paint & dont fully remove the film off the new screen just peel up & tape sufficient to clear the tongues. A trial fit without sealant is recommended & to mark the holes for the bolts.
