You may find that the LCD display returns to normal when the ambient temp drops. In general LCD displays don't do well with extremes of temperature.
Some will stop working at 80 dec C, but return to normal when the temperature drops.
It could also be that there is a crack in the LCD glass, or a seal leaked so some of the liquid crystal has escaped. Hot day - no LCD.
