Almost impossible to sell a new V8 in Italy. Not only do they cost an arm and a leg the cost of tax and insurance puts the car in the market where prospective owners need to have a darned good income.
Very strange when you consider the number of very powerful cars built in Italy. I suspect most of them are exported.
Has there not been punitive tax on large capacity engines for many years in Italy ? I remember that Ferrari used to build a 2 litre version of the 308 (the 208) for the domestic market.
