PJ is quite correct. Just leave it alone because it shouldn't need any intervention between servicing.
Even so, taking off the oil filler cap is one of those little things that the less mechically able feel they can do competently. Don't be fooled.
Its not even metal so you can't use a magnet on an extendable pole.
On the other hand you could probably charge admission fees to other TM readers to watch you try to recover the cap.
