Flowman - IAM probably don't bother because modern cars don't have any way of mounting a bar. Unless you're a DaveW innovator.
Badges do reduce airflow - that's why mine are mounted low without a bar, so don't go mad.
I'm a massive anti-badge bar person ( although I was in the Scouts) simply because however you play it there is bound to be some cooling issue.
That having been said, I mumbled about this before and Dave of SW19 did come up with a solution which was both sensible and stylish
