A good question. It was such an obvious choice there must have been some reason why they didn't go for it.
My theory is that the car was originally intended to replace the Plus 8 as the top of the Trad range, and they thought that calling it a Plus 6 might indicate it was somehow a lesser car than the Plus 8?
