I had a similar sounding accident in late 2014 where I literally tore the passenger side front suspension off the car and bent the frame in the process. The factory parts cost 13k usd and labor to disassemble and reassemble the car was 12k usd. That was over half of the 2013 new car price (46k usd not count tax and shipping) and my dealer convinced the insurance company that it was not a write off.
Probably the only down side was that the replacement frame came with the NHV kit for the bevel drive.
By the time a person turned the parts bundle Into a drivable car, they would likely have the price of a new tied up in it.
