I'm in the middle of fitting one of Phil's kits to better locate the bevel box to the chassis. As I've removed the existing gubbins, I've found telltale signs that confirm that the NVH hardware has allowed significant movement of the bevel box.
This photo shows where part of the NVH hardware has been striking the chassis.

I'm sure this explains the loud clonk when getting off the line (especially when carrying a passenger) and I can't wait to be rid of this unwelcome feature!
Of course, the irony is that my (early) chassis originally had the BB hard-mounted to the chassis but the previous owner had had it 'upgraded' to NVH spec!
