Personally, I like the wing lights, but I can see that some might prefer a different look.

The big question in my mind however would be how to deal with the mounting bolt question.

When you remove the wing lights, you will be left with 3 holes in the top of the wing, 2 for mounting bolts and one for the wiring.

Filling the rear two should be pretty straightforward, you can patch underneath the wing and then fill in from above, but the front bolt also passes through the wing stay - and you really don't want to leave this unattached.

Simply having a bolt head, even a dome-headed hex capscrew, is going to look worse than a sidelight. If it was me I think I'd bond on a plate with a stud welded on to it.
