The subject of harassment is quite polarising - or, to be more precise, what constitutes harassment. It sounds like these girls were harassed and that the males guests overstepped the line by a considerable margin. Meanwhile, someone I know was recently fired by his American employers for telling someone that they 'looked nice yesterday' - apparently this made the person uncomfortable and he was dismissed for not maintaining the values of the company.
Intelligent people quite often have the most bizarre views - I was at a dinner party not long ago when someone (a lawyer no less) held the view that women were partly responsible for being raped. That an intelligent person could hold such a view was deeply shocking- and it reminded me that under the surface, monsters lurk.
