As for pack animals not many houses that can keep a pack unless its spades clubs and diamonds
No, but as a dog lover you'll know that the reason dogs domesticate so well is that they readily accept humans as pack members and quickly establish their pack position in relation to them - subservient to the pack leader (you) and guardian to the kids.
I'm sure it wouldn't happen to you but I have seen people with dogs who have been unable to establish a consistent pack structure (who is the leader? where is the dog's position in the pack order?) and as a result the poor dog has ended up unsure of itself and exhibiting behavioural problems.
A dog can only have one master.
