We have a Fiat panel van motorhome conversion that has two replacement dark plastic windows in the back doors. We sometimes park it on a strip of our land parallel to the road, but on our side of the pavement - just the sort of place you would expect a speed camera van. It has a very obvious traffic calming effect.

Sorry but I think you are a miserable git parking your van like that.
Charmed, I'm sure. The van is only occasionally parked out the front, and it was my son-in-law who noticed the effect. Our local council occasionally uses speed cameras with smiley or miserable faces on our very busy road: they are quite effective. I clocked my traction engine at 17.5mph going past one, breaking the speed limit by 5.5mph!
