£475 for an old Bentley would probably have seemed quite a decent sale price for the early 60's.
Indeed! The car itself came up for sale at Fiskens in 2010 and I calculated back then that £475 in 1961 equated to £7882, quite a decent price for a second-hand car. Fiskens sold it for £550,000 so nevertheless a good investment, and I reckon it would get a fair bit more today.
The Fast Lady is worth getting on DVD. It contains a dream sequence in which Stanley Baxter races the Bentley at Silverstone against Graham Hill and John Surtees, with Raymond Baxter commentating - a scene which they used to cut for the TV showings (remember when TV used to show films like this?!)
