Just home from an amazing 3k miles through France & even some Spain in the +8, fully laden with luggage etc. SatNav proved amazing so highly recommend TomTom XL-IQ for marital harmony. Only two problems, first is teeny, light INSIDE lights on/off switch failed, so how do I get at that to replace? Does the wiring box on the back simply pul off?
Second is specific to 1988 +8 with early, simple fuel injection. Car seems to be running LEAN and examination today of spark plugs shows WHITE, no brown spots. Also noticed only sign of engine getting hot on long (think Peage) uphill stretches and on the bloody M25/M1 on way back from Dover when it would not idle easily. So if the fuel mixture is running lean, is there any way that the injection system can be tuned, albeit by an expert?
Other than that, only "problem" was regular insistence of friendly natives to be photographed alongside or inside the car at most every stop - such a pleasure to explain what the car is and to listen to the engine, now formally christened Brrrum by the grand-children!
