I know that road of old...
Back in the 60s we were staring in a rented cottage near Bigbury and when we got to the bottom of the hill there was water on the road.
Dad made me get out and walk in front of the car: "he said if it gets half way to you knees I'll go back".
It did and he did, so I had to walk back through the rapidly rising tide.... it was above my knees by the time I got back!
