What a great adventure Tony, I'm really impressed. Whilst we have driven from Rome to Gibraltar along the coast, this is less than 25% of your trip and we did it during several separate trips.
Also, this northern part of your route is the easiest part with good roads and some great hotels! A bimini top like the one shown in the photo may well be an idea, otherwise it could well be a case of

storm cover to keep the car and its contents dry when you are parked up overnight, may well be a good idea too.
