Not happy with it, too long, and with the new speed limitation at 80 km/h in France, 2000 rpm and 45 bhp with 5th gear is difficult to use. I like that a motor spins at less 50% of its max rev. At this speed 2500 rpm with 4th gear and 59 bhp is also a bit low.
My old Ford Puma with less power (125 bhp) and short ratios are a real pleasure, you can use the 5th at 70 km/h without problem and 3000 rpm at 90 km/h.
Goes to show we are all different. The m16 plus 4 with John Worrall straight through exhaust was quite happy at 2000rpm and 50mph and as this corresponded to a resonance in the exhaust it made a wonderful noise when you squeezed the throttle to balance the car in a bend.
The current one runs ok at 1000rpm and 30mph but needs 2 gears down if you want to do any more than creep to a faster speed from there so I don't do that often. Since I added an itg filter and cold air induction the acceleration from 50mph at about 2000rpm in 5th is pretty good, clearly if you are racing use 3rd.
