I don't quite get that.
If you are taking your hand off the wheel to move to the radio position it is safer/closer than the position of the remote on the handbrake ?
Is it some sort of alternative head unit ?
Actually, it may well be safer. If you experiment sitting in the car, right hand on the wheel, left hand down on the handbrake, given the controller can be utilised by feel alone, you should have better control of the steering wheel and your view of the road than if your left hand is stretched out to the front and left. (on an Aero not as bad as say the Tesla as everything is so close!).
