When I ordered my Roadster there was some alluding to the engine being a wolf in sheeps clothing. Its certainly smooth, flexible and quiet at the running in speeds I have experienced so far, with a pleasant subdued buz as revs increase.
Ventured up to a modest 4000 rpm the other day though and couldn't believe the sudden change in sound as I let the wolf escape. It reminded me of the mechanically operated baffle bypass sometimes fitted to US hotrods. Put it down initially to a carefully engineered resonance from those chunky tail pipes, but now guessing its the variable cam timing kicking in. No complaints but the sudden change surprised me - guess I can expect this to the red line
