I can angle the side mirrors such that I can see most of what's behind and let's face it truck and van drivers don't have internal mirrors.

The forward view without the Internal mirror is much improved and one would soon get used to relying on the door mirrors.

In my 4/4 (and in all my other tin-tops, come to think of it) the rear-view mirror gives a much more representative sense of distance between me and any following car. For that reason (and despite the fact that in a Landie or G-Wag I do primarily use the door mirrors) I would not be without the rear view mirror to give a better sense of distance behind for pulling out to overtake & pulling in after lane-changes etc. May explain why some van drivers drive the way they do... innocent
