MOT wise your be ok with the two door mirrors - the central one is only a requirement where the nearside ( passenger) door mirror is missing. Put simply - for MOT you need the offside ( drivers ) door mirror and one other - either the nearside door or central interior one.
Personally I would stick with 2 door mirrors and a central mirror - go for a smaller one if you like - they work really well and look great.
I Did an advanced driving course with ROSPA last year and their instructors opinion as that a central mirror is essential for road safety.
